The concept of “triple bottom line” was introduced by John Elkington, Co founder of the business consultancy Sustainability in 1994 and became popular in the 20th Century.
The profit/traditional bottom line focuses on effect of corporate activities on share value. The people /social equity bottom line is concerned with impact on employees, customers and suppliers.
On the other hand, the planet/environment bottom line is concerned with the company’s ecological foot print, lessening environment impact and the wider community.
